Recently Oceantrax had the honor to be entrusted with the delivery of a new Sasga 54 motor yacht from the factory in Mahon, Menorca to Portsmouth, UK.
The new owners were keen to be onboard for the delivery so they could familiarise themselves with the boat and maneuvering as well as gain experience for longer passages and night time passages
Upon arriving in Mahon, we received a warm welcome at the Sasga factory, where we took a brief tour of the production line and observed the company's high standards of quality.
The Sasga range starts at 35 foot and goes all the way up to 68 foot and is based on the traditional fishing vessels of the island called a llaüt.
More details of the Sasga range of vessels can be found here.

Following our factory tour, we were brought to the 54, which we would be delivering back to the UK to conduct a sea trial and confirm that everything was operational and that the owner's custom specifications were met, all of which was followed by a delightful lunch provided by Sasga.
The following day provisioning was carried out for the first leg of the trip which was to Palma in Majorca where a customs declaration was made officially exporting the vessel from Spain.
Sasga 54 ready to depart on delivery from Menorca
After a days wait in Palma all the paperwork was completed and the next stage of the delivery started which was a non stop passage to Gibraltar where the new owners took official ownership.

Starting from Gibraltar, the delivery adopted a leisurely pace, making stops in Portugal, Spain, and France. Along the journey, we encountered diverse sea conditions, from the calm of the Algarve to a very lumpy English Channel. There were numerous adventures, including an attempted attack by orcas. Fortunately, we were a bit too swift for them, and our rudders remained intact.
Our experience on the Sasga 54 during the Yacht Delivery was outstanding. We fully recommend the vessel for its excellent build quality and seaworthiness, as we felt entirely comfortable throughout the journey back to the UK.
