Oceantrax was recently assigned the task of delivering a newly constructed Sasga 54 from the factory in Menorca to Portsmouth, UK.
Upon our arrival in Menorca, we had the chance to tour the factory and witness the construction process.

Sasga Yachts, a brief history
In 1978, Juan Sastre founded "Astilleros Menorca," laying the groundwork for Sasga Yachts with the aim of creating yachts modeled after the traditional Mediterranean fishing boat, the llaüt. The first boats, called 'Conquistador,' were modest 8m (26ft) models.
As time went on, the shipyard broadened its scope. In 1985, it developed a 10m (33ft) llaüt, and by 1997, the 13m (43ft) Menoquin Yacht marked a major achievement. Despite its small size, this calculated risk garnered international recognition. In 2001, Juan Sastre passed control to Jose Luis Sastre, initiating a period of expansion with yachts measuring between 16m and 18m (53ft to 59ft) in length. Sasga Yachts was officially established in 2010 with the creation of the Menorquin 42.
Sasga Menorquin is renowned for customizing boats to suit owners' preferences and for the outstanding craftsmanship observed during our factory visit.
Sasga yachts are built using a combination of advanced construction techniques, including;
Vacuum-infused hulls, these hulls are lightweight but robust, and are designed to absorb choppy waves.
PVC foam cores are used in both the hulls and decks.
This demonstrates Sasga's excellent sea-keeping capabilities, coupled with their robust construction, which became apparent on the return journey to the UK.
We appreciate Sasga for giving us a tour of their factory (and for the complimentary T-shirt!) before we embarked on the yacht delivery to Portsmouth aboard the magnificent Sasga 54.
