CREW FOR US

At Oceantrax we insist on the highest standards for our skippers and crew and in return we offer a rewarding experience.

DELIVERY SKIPPERS

Yacht delivery skippers should be a commercially endorsed Yachtmaster or above and highly experienced in all aspects of running a vessel from passage planning to engine maintenance. You must have a professional approach to the position, have good people skills and be able to work to budgets.

FIRST MATES

To join a vessel as a First Mate you should be minimum of Coastal Skipper standard, happy to trim sails for all conditions, aid with passage planning, happy to undertake solo watches both day and night and ready to step in to the place of skipper should they become injured or unable to carry out their duties for any other reason. If this is the case you should be confident you can get the vessel safely in to the nearest port of refuge.

DECK HANDS

To crew on a yacht delivery can be a great way to gain the miles needed to take a Yachtmaster exam as well as picking up valuable sailing skills in real world situations from an experienced skipper.

However a yacht delivery should not be seen as an alternative to a sailing course. Your skipper is not there to be your instructor, although they will always be available if you are uncertain of something. To work as crew you should be confident in trimming sails for changes in wind directions and carry out a night-watch.

Successful First Mates and Deck Crew have their airfares, overseas travel and subsistence paid.
